Track N Go tracks turn a Talaria Sting MX3 or Sting R MX4 into a machine that keeps working when the trails disappear under snow. The kit replaces the rear wheel with a track unit and the front wheel with a ski, keeps the bike’s original rear suspension, and includes everything needed to swap between wheels and tracks and back again. The brief is simple: low rolling resistance for maximum battery range, a lightweight build and a large footprint that floats where a tyre would sink.
What the kit turns a Sting into
A Talaria on wheels is a fine weather machine for most UK owners. Deep snow packs into the tread, the front washes out on the first frozen rut and the rear digs a trench rather than driving forward. Track N Go tracks answer all three problems at once. The track spreads the bike’s weight across a long, wide footprint so it rides on top of the snow, and the ski steers by carving rather than by biting, which is a far more predictable way to turn on a loose white surface.
Year round riding
The point of Track N Go tracks is that the bike no longer goes into hibernation. The same Sting that rides woodland in September rides the same woodland on tracks in January, then returns to wheels for spring. Because the swap is a home job with the supplied parts, the bike is not committed to one configuration for the season.
Built around the Sting
Track N Go tracks are designed for the Sting MX3 and Sting R MX4 specifically, which is why they can use the bike’s original rear suspension rather than a bolt on frame with its own shock. The rear shock, linkage and swingarm continue to do their job.

Inside the kit
Track N Go tracks are supplied as a complete system rather than a track on its own. Three groups of parts arrive in the box.
- Rear track unit: the track, its drive and idler wheels and the frame that holds them, built to a lightweight specification with a large footprint.
- Front ski: replaces the front wheel and mounts through the front axle position so the standard forks keep working.
- Changeover hardware: everything needed to move between wheels and track and ski, so nothing has to be sourced separately before the first swap.
Your wheels, tyres and brake discs come off the bike and go on a shelf. Keep them together with their spacers and axles for the day the snow clears. Owners who ride hard through winter sometimes keep a spare built wheel such as our 16 x 1.85 rear rim so the bike can return to wheels the same day the track comes off.
Why rolling resistance decides your range on snow
An electric bike has a fixed store of energy, and on tracks that energy is spent in three places: moving the bike, moving the track itself and compressing the snow beneath it. Track N Go tracks are built around a low rolling resistance concept for exactly this reason. A track that turns freely, with idlers that spin easily and a belt that does not scrub, spends the battery on forward motion rather than on friction.
Light where it counts
A heavy track unit needs energy just to get itself rolling and adds unsprung mass that the rear shock has to control. The Track N Go tracks kit is built to a lightweight design so the Sting’s motor and suspension are not fighting the conversion. That matters more on a 60V bike than on a petrol snow bike, because there is no reserve of fuel to burn through inefficiency.
Footprint and flotation
A large footprint spreads the load so Track N Go tracks ride higher in soft snow. A bike that floats is a bike that is not ploughing, and ploughing is the single biggest drain on range. Our Talaria range guide explains the factors that govern range on wheels, and every one of them applies with more force on tracks.

Wheels versus Track N Go tracks on a Sting
The table below sets out what changes when the wheels come off and Track N Go tracks go on.
| Aspect | Standard wheels | Track N Go tracks and ski |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | Dirt, mud, gravel, hardpack | Snow and packed snow |
| Flotation | Tyre contact patch sinks in soft snow | Large footprint rides on top |
| Steering | Tyre bites the surface | Ski carves the surface |
| Rear suspension | Standard Sting shock and linkage | Same standard shock and linkage retained |
| Rolling resistance | Low on hardpack, high in snow | Designed low for snow |
| Braking | Front and rear disc | Rear drive braking and regen, ski has no brake |
| Changeover | Factory configuration | Home workshop swap with the supplied hardware |
| Where it can be used | Private land with permission | Private land with permission, snow cover |
The row that surprises most new owners of Track N Go tracks is braking. With the front wheel replaced by a ski, front brake force disappears, so the rear track and the motor’s regenerative braking do all the slowing. The first descent on tracks should be a gentle one.
Fitment for the Sting MX3 and Sting R MX4

What the Sting keeps
Track N Go tracks leave the frame, forks, rear shock, swingarm, motor, controller and battery untouched. The track unit mounts where the rear wheel was and takes drive from the chain, and the ski mounts where the front wheel was. Because nothing structural changes, the bike returns to its factory state when the wheels go back on, which is not true of every Talaria track kit.
Swapping wheels for track and ski
Track N Go tracks arrive with fitting instructions, and those instructions take priority over any summary. The outline below is so you know what you are taking on before the box arrives: a home workshop job with a paddock stand and a torque wrench, longer the first time and quicker every time after.
- Switch the bike off, remove the key and lift it on a stand so both wheels hang free.
- Remove the front wheel and calliper as you would for a tyre change, and store the calliper so the hose is not strained.
- Slacken the chain adjusters, withdraw the rear axle and remove the rear wheel with its spacers.
- Offer the track unit into the swingarm, fit it with the supplied hardware, set the chain and torque the fixings to the figures in the instructions.
- Fit the ski to the front axle position with the supplied hardware and check the forks move through their full travel without fouling it.
- Check the track tension to the instructions, spin it by hand to confirm it runs true, then ride gently and re check every fixing after the first short outing.
Store the wheels, discs, spacers and axles together, labelled front and rear, so both wheels are only minutes from going back on when the season turns.

Riding technique and battery care in the cold
A Sting on Track N Go tracks is ridden differently from a wheeled one, and the battery is ridden differently too.
Technique
Keep the throttle smooth. Track N Go tracks grip best when rolling steadily, and a sudden burst of torque spins the belt and digs a hole. Lean the bike and weight the outside peg to carve the ski through a turn rather than trying to steer with the bars alone. On descents, use regen and the rear drive early and gently, because there is no front brake to lean on.
Battery in the cold
Lithium cells give up less of their capacity when they are cold, and they should never be charged below freezing. Charge and store the battery indoors at room temperature, fit it to the bike just before you ride, and expect the displayed range to drop as the pack cools. A warm pack ridden immediately performs far better than one left overnight in a cold shed. Our Talaria battery guide covers winter storage in detail, and worn packs should be disposed of under the GOV.UK batteries and accumulators guidance.
Range planning
Because snow riding spends more energy per mile than dirt, plan shorter loops from a warm base until you know what your pack delivers on Track N Go tracks. Owners who ride long winter days often carry a second pack and keep it warm in the van.
Where you can ride a tracked Talaria in the UK
The Sting MX3 and Sting R MX4 are off road only models, and fitting Track N Go tracks does not change that. A tracked Talaria cannot be ridden on public roads, byways, bridleways, footpaths or pavements in the UK, and snow cover does not alter a right of way. Private land with the landowner’s permission is the only lawful place to use it. That includes farmland and private estates where you have written agreement, and any venue that permits tracked machines.
Road legal Sting owners
If you own a road legal L1e or L3e Sting, fitting Track N Go tracks takes the bike outside the specification it was registered and insured to, and the ski removes the front brake the bike was approved with. Treat it exactly as an off road model, private land only, and tell your insurer. The licensing framework for registered models is set out in the GOV.UK guide to riding a motorcycle or moped.
Green lanes
Lawful green lanes are open to registered, road legal vehicles only, and the Trail Riders Fellowship publishes guidance on which routes those are. An off road Sting on Track N Go tracks is not eligible for them, snow or no snow, so plan winter riding around land you have permission to use.
Care, storage and switching back to wheels
Snow riding brings less grit than mud but far more water, and it finds its way into everything.
After each ride
Knock the snow and ice out of the track and the ski, dry the bike indoors if you can, and lubricate the chain once it is dry rather than while it is wet. Check the track tension and the fixings after the first few outings, because new hardware settles.
Off season storage
When the wheels go back on, wash the Track N Go tracks, dry them fully, and store them somewhere the belt is not left under load or in direct sunlight. Keep the changeover hardware with the kit, in a labelled box, so next winter’s swap starts with everything to hand.
Warranty and support
The kit is covered by our UK warranty, full terms on the warranty page. Damage from riding on surfaces the kit is not designed for, such as gravel or tarmac, is misuse rather than a defect. If anything about the fitment is unclear, contact us with your model and year before the first swap.
Frequently asked questions
Are Track N Go tracks the same thing as Track and Go tracks?
Yes. Track and Go tracks is simply how many riders write the brand name in searches and forum posts. The manufacturer is Track N Go, and this kit is their track and ski system for the Talaria Sting MX3 and Sting R MX4. Whichever spelling you searched for, this is the product.
Does the kit use the Sting’s own rear suspension?
Yes. Track N Go tracks are designed to work with the original rear shock, linkage and swingarm rather than bringing their own suspension frame. That keeps the geometry and ride quality familiar, keeps the unsprung mass down and means the bike returns to its factory configuration when the wheels go back on.
How much range will I get on tracks?
Less than on wheels, because snow riding spends more energy per mile and cold reduces what a lithium pack delivers. The kit is designed around low rolling resistance and a light build to protect range, but the honest answer depends on snow depth, temperature, rider weight and pace. Start with short loops from a warm base and learn what your pack delivers.
Can I ride a tracked Talaria on the road when it snows?
No. The MX3 and MX4 are off road only, and fitting a Talaria track kit does not make them road legal. Snow on a public road, byway, bridleway or footpath does not change its status. A tracked Sting belongs on private land with the landowner’s permission, and a road legal Sting fitted with tracks should be treated the same way.
Is the swap a workshop job or can I do it at home?
It is designed as a home workshop job. Track N Go tracks include everything needed to move between wheels and track and ski, along with fitting instructions. You need a paddock stand, a torque wrench and the tools you would use for a wheel change. Expect the first swap to take a while and later ones to be quick.
Does the kit fit the Talaria XXX or Komodo?
Track N Go tracks are designed for the Sting MX3 and Sting R MX4. The XXX, Komodo and Dragon use different wheel and swingarm packages, so we do not list the kit for them. If you own one of those models and want to ride through winter, contact us and we will tell you what is available.
